The New Moon took place yesterday, July 4th, at 19 degrees of creative and communicative Gemini. The third sign of the zodiac, Gemini is a fun loving air sign that loves to talk, write and communicate on all levels, including the physical level. In fact, it is called Maithuna in Sanskrit, meaning sexual union, making it one of the most sexual signs of the zodiac.
The curious and open-minded nature of Gemini, imbues this lunar cycle with an outward energy. It is a time of being social, learning, having fun, laughing, skill building and of course communicating. It is a time to let loose and enjoy. The theme of art, creativity and beauty and inquisitiveness are emphasized by the association of Venus and Mercury with the New Moon.
Having said that, there are two influences on this New Moon that may tone down the light, quick energy of Gemini. One is the opposition of Pluto to the Sun, Moon, Venus and Mercury. The Pluto energy may create a depth in relationships (Venus) as well as communication (Mercury) that opens up the door to transformation and healing. In some cases, it may bring a relationship to an end, another type of transformation.
The other modifying influence, is the nakshatra placement of the New Moon. It is falling in Ardra nakshatra. The symbol for Ardra is a tear drop, symbolizing both sadness and joy. It can be a time of simultaneous disappointment and inspiration. The deity that rules over Ardra is Rudra, a form of Lord Shiva, making this nakshatra a highly transformative one. Lord Shiva is known as the destroyer, helping us to overcome obstacles and inner emotional blocks. He destroys what is preventing us from living fully and feeling alive. In this way, Shiva is also a God of healing. He represents challenge, purification and greatness.
Mars and Saturn in Scorpio Once Again
On July 12th Mars moves back into Scorpio and begins his march forward toward the conjunction with Saturn on August 23rd. As Mars moves closer to Saturn the steam in the pressure cooker will build, leading to a potential explosion on or near the date of the conjunction. If there is something that you have delayed, ignored or blocked, get ready for a surprise.
When an outer planet moves into a new sign, we must take note. It takes Uranus seven years to go through a sign, so his recent change into Aries symbolizes some big shifts ahead for the house where Aries resides in your chart. Aries is a fast moving fire sign and Uranus is an explosive, rebellious planet. The combination is sure to cause a revolution in some area of life. If you have planets in the first 5 degrees of Aries in the Sidereal Zodiac, then you are bound to notice this shift already taking place. Uranus is an energy that raises consciousness, brings flashes of insight, radical independence and the unexpected. If you have been stuck in a pattern, whether it be internal or external, Uranus will break you out of that habit and set you free. Just remember to fasten your seat belt!
Until next time...
